LEGACY OF DOMINATION

TRIPLE CROWN OF TITLES

Picture
The Road Warriors not only found success as a tag team, they were regarded as the top tag team in nearly every promotion they visited during their journey in professional wrestling.

Along the way, they captured the top tag team championships in nearly every promotion and era in which they competed: the NWA National Tag Team titles in 1983 and 1984, the AWA World Tag Team titles in 1984 into 1985, the NWA World Tag Team titles in 1988, the WWF Tag Team titles in 1991 and again in 1997, and numerous independent promotions’ top tag prize between 2000 and 2003.

The “Triple Crown” of tag team titles, those of the AWA, NWA, and WWF, represented the three largest promotions in the United States during the wrestling boom period of the late 1980s and early 1990s. No other team stood atop all three of those promotions, and this achievement served as an unarguable hallmark to the legacy of The Road Warriors and the impact they had on the business of professional wrestling in this era.

TITLE REIGNS

Few tag teams held more championships than The Road Warriors, and even fewer held the major championship in multiple major promotions across the decades of their careers.
